Now O'Clock

Now O’Clock

As I enter into this 28th year of my life I feel more present than I have ever been.  This past year has been one of the most transformational years of my life, if not the most.  I feel as if I see the world through a whole new set of eyes now.  I see the world in the now, as it really is.  Afterall, the now is the only time it has ever been and the only time it ever will be.  If you were to ask an animal what time was and they could respond, they would surely say “well it’s umm now”.  One of our best and worst abilities as human beings is the ability to reflect on time, to see things in the future, and to ponder the past.  This of course is great; however, the dark side of this is that this is also the root cause of almost all of our problems, of our depression, of our anxiety, of our fears, etc.  For example, you may be depressed about a separation you are going through, a very heartfelt set of circumstances may have been bestowed upon you; however, ask yourself, at this very moment do you have a problem? At this very second, do you have a problem that you cannot handle?  You will quite often find that the problems you possess are based on a future event or from a past experience.  Unless you are in a burning building or some other traumatic experience then you are most likely having an out of body experience.

As you have these out of body experiences learn to recognize what is happen and focus instead on the present moment.  Find the beauty and meaning in even the smallest of things.  Just recently I was at a very nice restaurant finding myself frustrated about how long the service was taking.   As I began to notice my frustration I decided to find the beauty in where I was, to find joy in the moment, I started reading the menu and learned about the history of the establishment and the story behind the legacy.  Before long I found myself very fascinated and the frustration had passed.  This is just a simple example, but this type of exercise can be done at any moment.  Behind every dark cloud is a silver lining, and everything has a meaning.

Focus less on the future and past events, and focus more on the now…now o’clock baby!

Here is a short video where I talk about the power of focusing on the present moment.
