scarcity mindset

Adopting a Scarcity Mindset to Drive You to Action!

A concept that I’ve come more to embrace over the past year or so is that of “scarcity.”

I think what messes so many people up that they have too much of an “abundance of opportunity” mentality.

Now hear me out real quick.

It’s noble to have the mindset that there is an abundance of opportunity, but what I find happens is that this very thought is what stifles most right in their tracks because they can always think that “well I don’t have to take action right now because opportunity is abundant and so I will live life for today and then take action tomorrow.”

This ends up becoming a pattern and creating habits of procrastination.

The bitter truth is that opportunity is actually scarce.

Think about it: You’re only alive once, and that life is very short in comparison to overall history. And on top of that you only have a few decades of really being in your prime to produce something incredible in this lifetime. And on top of that we have things that consume a large percentage of our time inevitably such as sleep (30% of our life), working at your job, eating, driving, eating, going to the bathroom, etc etc etc…all of these things eating away at your “abundance of time and opportunity”.

Now I’m not bringing this up to be a Debby-downer, but instead as reason to take action immediately.

Instead of thinking, well I’ll just wait till tomorrow to start going to the gym, go TODAY because tomorrow might not be promised. Instead of procrastinating to start a business idea, start ASAP because you don’t know how much time this idea of yours will even still be viable and relevant.

Instead of of making excuses based on the false belief that an opportunity today is an opportunity tomorrow, try instead the belief that served Steve Jobs, “if today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do?”

Just something to think about 🙂
